Ange Postecoglou could be of interest to Manchester City as a potential replacement for Pep Guardiola.
After a successful tenure at Celtic, the 58-year-old has been appointed as the head coach of Tottenham Hotspur in June.
Despite being recently signed as Spurs’ coach, there have been backstage details emerging about a potential future job opportunity for him.
City could consider Postecoglou to replace Guardiola
A recent report from The Telegraph had this to say on the matter.
It said: “Ange Postecoglou is already rated as an outsider at the top of the list of potential successors to Pep Guardiola at Manchester City, should the Spaniard decide to leave the post at the end of his current contract in the summer of 2025.”
The report also adds that the Australian “could be better placed for City to target next summer if Guardiola does not extend his contract, not that it is certain that they would succeed in prizing him away from Spurs.”
Having spent some time in charge of Yokohama F. Marinos, Postecoglou secured five titles in two years at Celtic, winning 83 out of 113 games he played for the Scottish club.
Since becoming Spurs’ coach, Postecoglou missed 23 games in all competitions before tonight’s FA Cup clash against City, winning 13, drawing four, and losing six.
While we believe the club’s main goal should be to keep Guardiola for as long as they can, if the 53-year-old decides to end his tenure at City in 2025, Postecoglou is set to remain on the list of replacements if he has a successful season with Spurs.
One way to do that would be to lead the north London club to some silverware and take them into Europe next season, which might make it even harder for the Citizens to snap him up.
